Words can't really describe it, but all I can say is thank you. Thank y'all so much for all of the love, support, and prayers.
I really can't wait to see what y'all think of the record as a whole. It's a ten song, 35 minute album that speaks on so many things that I've experienced in the past couple of years. Once it releases on the 12th, I genuinely hope y'all take the time, whether it be while you're driving, right before bed, or while you're studying, to listen to the album start to finish (if it all possible).
I decided it would be neat to give a really quick and basic track-by-track breakdown of the songs y'all have been waiting on for over a year.
"Soot in the Sand", the first track on the record, speaks about love and the journey that comes along with it.
"When You're Down", the title track, tells a story of loneliness, depression, and the weight of the world falling on you and how in the midst of it all, you realize that it's all out of your hands and already taken care of
"December" plays on the metaphor that a woman shares the beauty of nature and her love is constant and true.
"Prodigal" tells my personal story of pursuing the life of music-man, essentially singing about my journey throughout the whole process of recording this record. (Ben sings the first verse on this one, and it's REALLY cool)
"Doubt" is one of the more heavy-hearted songs on the record. I personally struggle with doubt on a daily basis, almost like a paranoia at times, and this was my outlet to get all of it off my chest. Definitely a very personal song off the album
These are the first 5 songs, the next 5 will be released in a future post! I know these explanations mean nothing without the songs, but hopefully just reading about these can fuel your fire a little bit longer until the record releases!
Thank y'all so much! Again, if you haven't heard the single yet, you can find it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0oywzz75cM
With all my love,
Matthew
